In 1986 a college student named Tony Barthel decided to make a little bit of money "on the side" and asked his wife what he should call his DJ company. She said, "Sounds Like FUN!"

Since those days, the rather enthusiastic and unconventional Barthel has operated Sounds Like FUN! as a company that celebrates the unique individuality that is each of the people who chose to celebrate with us.

"My vision is to reflect the unique style and wishes that each of the people who celebrate with us have. No celebration should ever be cookie-cutter - each individual and celebration is unique."

With that ideology and a passion for quality, Sounds Like FUN! continues today. Even after all these years we still offer a level of enthusiasm and excitement for your very special day.

Tony has celebrated with celebrities of all sorts, from Ted Danson's 40th birthday to your own unique wedding Tony is truly unique in the way he likes to celebrate. But this comes from years of carefully planning with a written event plan for each celebration.

We mourn the loss of one of the most professional and wonderful DJs and individuals we have had the privilege of knowing. Our company's manager and inspiration, Allen Layton, was killed in a plane crash in March of 2011. For those who had the privilege of knowing this wonderful individual or, even better, having had the opportunity to work with him, you realize what a loss it is. We miss you, Allen, and use the memory of the excellence you constantly strove for as an inspiration in everything we do as individuals and as a company.

Rich Mione has been in the music business for over 25 years. He started out playing keyboard in a band, but found his true passion as a DJ. He loves turning a gathering into an event.

Rich is the consummate people person. He adjusts his style, music selection and volume to fit each event.

Rich has performed at weddings and corporate events from Santa Barbara to Tecate Mexico, from Beverly Hills to Riverside. His latest venture has been as a 2 year stint as destination DJ in Las Las Vegas where he performed at the Stratosphere, Bellagio, Palms, Rio, Venetian, Tropicana, and the Flamingo.

Enrique Martinez - Bilingual DJ

Music has always been a passion in Enrique's life. Born in Houston, Texas and a son of a professional musician, Enrique identifies with both English and Spanish music equally. Enrique brings a musicianship & knowledge to his DJing that few others have.

Enrique attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston Texas, where he won state and national awards as a tenor saxophonist. On a scholarship, he attended the New School Jazz and Contemporary Music Program in New York City.

Enrique has been on stage all of his life and feels at ease as being your master of ceremonies in English or in Spanish.

As a professional DJ, Enrique has been sharing his passion of music with people for over 19 years. Whatever the occasion or style of music, Enrique uses your musical preferences and his musical judgment to create just the right mood.

His past clients have described his style as striking just the right balance of professionalism and entertainment for their events.

1. Select a Professional/full-time DJ: Unfortunately there are for too many DJs who represent themselves as professional DJs while working in another line of work. A full-time DJ can give your wedding the attention it deserves versus part-time DJ will only be able to focus on your wedding when he can work it in around his “real” job. Also, like any other profession, only the best are able to do it full-time, for the rest, it is just a hobby. Your wedding deserves a professional.

2. Reputation, Reviews & Response: Make sure the DJ/Company has a good reputation. Any good DJ/Company will have written testimony or reviews online from previous clients raving about the service. Poor reviews or even a lack of is not a good sign. Finally observe their response time in returning calls, replying to emails or mailing correspondence. If their response time is not almost immediate, then your wedding is not a priority for them and you should look elsewhere

3. Meet your DJ before you choose him: You should not select a DJ until after you have interviewed him in person. Your DJ will be handling one of the most important days of your life. Remember your wedding celebration is about your individual style, taste, customs and vision. Whoever you choose to be your representative should take the time to learn what is important to you and then be there in person to fulfill that understanding.
